Beyoncé 4 - Released 28.06.2011

Font used: Throughout the whole digipak (including back and front), the font she has chosen is very simple and plain. On each part of the digipak here name is boldly displayed at the top of each and every component. The text is written in a very bold colour so it is easily distinguished from the 'plain' back ground. Her name is very large and is placed in the middle expanding from one side to the other. This is so that every body knows who she is and this name can be seen easily from a distance. This could be done so if this CD is on a shelf customers can easily locate it. The text she has decided to use could connote her elegance as the text she has decided to use isn't over the top or overly bold. Her outfit also matches the text she has chosen to use. The juxtaposition between the harsh bold black of the text to the soft cream of the back ground, may connote the dark story behind the songs.

Colour and Imagery: Like the Text, the Imagery and Colour used has a simple style. The Imagery is simple but effective, consumers can easily see who the artist is and what type of album is. By the use of a simple theme and text means that Beyoncé is the focal point of whole digipak. This is to ensure the point of the album is straight to the point so customers are able to know exactly who this album was written and performed by. However, This digipak does carry a common theme of having the artist the focal point of the cover. This is due to advertising and promotion reason for the artists success and the financial benefit of the record label. The front cover picture is of the artist Beyoncé. This cover shot uses high key lighting and a low camera angle. This connotes the power of Beyoncé and the power of the album, through the use of the low camera angle as it looks as if we are looking up at her. The use of the high key lighting backs up these point as this lighting is very bright and shows all of her. However, I also feel as though she is sexualised in this cover through the use of costume. Through the photo you can see that she inst wearing a top under her jacket. You can also see this in all of the other pictures with the high heals and the sexual poses. See can also be seen in a sexual way through her poses because she is positioned herself in a way that reveals intimate parts of her self. The colour scheme runs the same throughout apart from the disk its self, which is red with the enlarged black letter B. This connotes the heart of Beyoncé has been put into these songs, showing a more vulnerable side of the Pop Queen. This shows how shes let herself get personal with these songs, opening up a more vulnerable side of herself to her fans. The colour of the disk is a complete juxtaposition to the colour scheme throughout the outside of the digipak. The outside of the digipak could represent how her audience view as this powerful, beautiful, successful woman with her own empire, but what the disk contains is the 'real' Beyoncé. The colour red could also connote love and/or danger. This could be referring to the contents of the disk and what the lyrics could be portraying throughout the songs like "Rather Die Young". The representation of the heart could show be metaphorical for how she has poured her heart and soul into her music. Especially as this album contains some very personal and heart felt songs like; I Was Here, I Miss You, I Care and Start Over including her number one hit Run The World (Girls). The CD only has the 'B' of her name which could mean connote that she is so successful and famous, fans recognise her by the first letter of her name. The front cover image is a very provocative which would draw the male audience which would result in widening her target audience. By adding this image as the front cover its going to immediately draw customers to the album as they can see that its Beyoncé as established by the big bold lettering.

Impact on the Audience: For the passionate fans of  Beyoncé, this would draw them in to buying her new album as they can see this is a new release. Beyoncé has the most passionate fans which enable her to be so successful and sell millions upon millions of record with platinum records and number one smashes. The impact on the audience could also be that Beyoncé is extremely pretty and gives off the image of being 'Flawless'. This makes the CD more attractive to all demographic groupings and many different ages because the image of a very pretty person is going to catch the eye of any type of customer. Because of this, it could benefit and increase her existing fans base resulting in the widening of her audience.

The reason I chose Beyoncé is because she is one of (If not) the most successful female artists in the world. Beyoncé has made a very successful name for herself from being one of three black women in a group called Destiny's child to reaching global domination in her solo career. She is an idol for both women and men around the world, selling anything from perfume to being on adverts, to brand endorsements and being one of the highest females in to receive so many grammies. She is just the perfect person to write about when analysing success and domination in regards to the media and music industry.

I believe this is going to benefit me in creating my own digipak as i have been able to analyse a female artist who is extremely successful in her field. This allows me to create a digipak from the inspiration of an extremely well throughout successful digipak.
