Evaluation Question 3- What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Question3- What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Family-
As an individual in the group we all went away and conducted our own research and came back together again to discuss our feedback and what could be done to create the best products. I went off and conducted my own research on my family. I asked my mum, twin brother and younger brother all to review my music video. The reason I selected these family members is because I knew they would give me an honest opinion and I would also be asking a wide age range about what they thought of my video. This would then enable me to get different opinions from different age groups which would then eventually benefit me as I would then figure out how I would be able to attract all different types of audiences. The first product I asked them to review was the Music video. They all picked up on different things for example; Morgan, my younger brother, picked up on the colour schemes. He said that the colours and all of the lights attracted him to the video as they gave the video as happy and up beat vibe. However, Sarah, my mum, picked up on the narrative and said that she liked how the whole story was set. She also said that the narrative gave a back story to why the party was happening and also gave the audience something to focus on. Furthermore, jack, my twin brother, picked up on the location of the party and said it fit well with the genre and our target audience. All of their feedback helped us a group create better products as they gave me pointers for certain aspects of the video which I took back to my group and we corrected them. I then told them to analyse my groups Digipak and magazine advert. They told me that they like the way all of the products linked together and had the same type of theme of the house party. They also said that they liked the way the colour theme runs throughout and how it was very attractive as it was bright and colourful. They liked how many panels my digipak had, as it has given my audience lots of content and lots of photographs of my artist. They also gave my group things that we could work on for example; how the background of the magazine advert was pretty plain. This is what made us re-think the background of the advert which is why we chose to place the two dancers in the back to give atmosphere and to add a sense of the pop industry.
Class-
As a group we conducted research of our class and what they thought of our Music video and both the magazine advert and the digipak. This was beneficial for us as out target audience is teenagers and young adults which meant that we would be asking our target audience what they thought. This was a very good idea and beneficial for our research as we were able to find out exactly what our target audience thought of our products, what they wanted to see and what they expected to see. All of this information helped our group create and develop all of our products to be the best they could possibly be. Through our research we found that our class mates were fond of our music video as they found the storyline relatable. This is because we asked the audience we were targeting directly, meaning that we were able to get an opinion directly from them. Furthermore, they expressed their opinions on the locations used, saying they felt that they were realistic and the narrative for the party was also realistic and believable. They also said they liked who we cast in our music video from starring cast to extras. They mentioned that the cast were fit well the to the storyline and also believed that Amber fulfilled the role of Charli XCX well. We also got them to look over our digipak and our magazine advert to see what they thought of it. They said again that they liked the connection and the link between all of the products which made it believable and also made each of the products compliment each other.
Friends-
Our target audience is young adults mostly teenagers, I felt that it would benefit my research more if I were to ask one of my close friends who is also the same age. I asked my close friend Millie to review my music video, Digipack and magazine advert. She watched my music video and said that she liked the house party theme as this is very relevant in today society and was well suited for the target audience that we were considering to target. She said her favourite part was the dance break because she said that it added a little more diversity and interest into the music video. This also helped engage the audience as this made our video have a professional looks it gave the audience a little more to look at. Millie also commented on the connection between the lights used in the house party and the digipak close up picture of our artist. She said that this was a good idea to advertise and attract our target audience. It also gave a little hint into what the video was going to look like. This meant that the audience would be a little excited about what the video was going to look like. She also said the digipak looks professional and has a good variety of pictures of the artist for the fans to know who she is and to recognise her and her music. This is good feedback for our group as this means that we could market our artist well and be able to gain a following for it.
Teachers-
Every week our group submitted our work to our teachers to get an outside opinion on how well they thought we were doing. We also did this to gain information on how they thought we could improve and how they also thought we could make our music video and media products more inclusive for a wider range of age groups. By doing this it enabled us to gain a professional review of our work and how we could improve on little bits. The teacher feedback we received consisted of changing the background on our magazine advert, changing little scenes within our music video for example; When the day light was too bright and adding more footage of the dancers. They liked the footage of the dancers as they thought that these scene were the more interactive and more attractive for audiences to watch. They also said we should keep the theme of the lips running through all three products, which would mean changing our magazine advert to match the video and the digipak.

Year 12-
Our group decided to show the year below to get their opinion  on our final products because they fit the age range we are trying to target. After making all of the necessary changes advised by our research, we felt confident they would appreciate it. After showing them our music video we had various positive opinions. They all said that our narrative was clear and easy follow. I feel this was because we added scenes to complement the exciting ones to clarify the narrative a little more. This meant that it was very easy for the gist of the story to get through. They also liked how Amber was crashing the house party and how the lyrics of the song reflected their actions in the video. They also said they liked all of the extra dance scene as it gave a professional look. Year 12 said that they were fond of the lyrics reflecting the visuals where the purple glitter was flying through the air. This was using one of good wins theories where the lyrics reflect the visuals on screen. We also showed year 12 our final Digipak and the magazine advert and they said they liked the link between the magician advert and the video. They expressed their positive opinions on the link between the two using the backup dancers. They said this was a good idea as this gives the target audience a little hint to what is going to be in the video. They also liked all of the detail in our digipak and how professional it looked.
Online surveys-
We put our video on the internet and let people of all different ages, genders, ethnicities, classes ect. Comment on what they thought about ur video. We managed to receive lots of different answers from conducting this research. We found that 67% enjoyed our music video from the survey we conduct, which also found 46% of males were fond of our music video. This shows a 21% between males and females which shows that females enjoyed watch our music video more than men enjoyed watching it. We believe this is because the theme we incorporated throughout the shoot was heavily female and less male orientated. However, these statistics still show that 46% of men enjoyed watching our video. The main reason for this could be because of the use of the Male Gaze theory, that suggests the sexualisation of women. Due to the the mixed gender cast this could also give another plausible reason for why men are still ingrained to watch this video but shows how woman are target more often than men. They also said that our digital and magazine advert linked with with our music video through costume, colour and through use of props and cast.
Family-
My family said that they liked our music video as they felt that some of the scenes in my video were very professional looking for example; the scenes with the white screen and the scenes with the dancers. They felt that this would draw in audiences as these scene were very generic for a pop video and would therefore entice more people to watch the video. They also said that they liked all of the colours in the house party scenes because this made the video more vibrant and up-beat. Furthermore, they said that they liked my magazine advert and my digipak as they believed that they all link well together especially after all of the corrections. They commented on the clarification of the narrative and how it benefits the storyline. They liked all of the bright colours that have also been used across all three media products.

My whole group and I have all learned lots from getting feedback from our target audience and other external sources. As it has helped us develop as a group and create products to the best of our abilities. By getting feedback, it also helped us get opinions on our work from a view point that we cant access. This then enabled us to fix the problem and make sure everything we did was done perfectly. Feedback is also god to get after every rough cut stage. This then helps you progress onto the next part and helps improve what you already have. It not only helps you to progress but it also helps you reflect on how far you have come and how well the group progression is. Getting feedback directly from our target audience also helped our group progress in a very good way as it meant that we were able to improve and produce the content that our target audience wanted. All of the constructive criticism helped our group by letting us tweak things in order to get them to be perfect and look perfect. I don’t feel as though getting feedback has hindered our group in anyway as its helped us improve as a group in order for us to get better. I have learnt lots for the feedback and what audiences really want to see especially our target audience. I have also learnt that it is important to find a variety of external sources as our own opinion can be biased towards our works sometimes. Getting a non-biased opinion on the work is very helpful as it allows you to detach your own opinion from one that actually benefit your work.
