Video Analysis According to Goodwins Theory

Image
Analysis of David Guetta- Titanium f.t. Sia Titanium was released in 2011, as part of the album 'Nothing but the beat' by the artist David Guetta featuring Sia. This song falls into the house, dance/electronic genres. Titanium talks about our inner strength and being strong within ourselves. Throughout the song many literary elements are used to portray the song, such as metaphors, imagery and symbolism. When bad things happen we must stand strong and not fall.  ·          I feel as though this song and video are very narrative based as there is a clear meaning and story behind the song. This can be seen by the story that is systematically playing out in the video, of a boy with super powers that has caused chaos in this small town in America. For the reason I feel this is mainly narrative based with no performance is because there isn’t anything in the video that could be classed as audience entertainment or that has been purposefully placed in the frame for entertain

Music Video Target Audience Results Analysis

Image
Graph 1- What is your Preferred Genre? As seen in the graph it shows that 50 % of people asked, preferred pop music. Showing that pop music takes up a large majority of the music industry. By 50 % of the people i asked liked pop music, it means that a lot of the attention is on the POP segment in the music industry. Adding pressure to artists to create better music than the artist(s) before with better visuals and more expensive video than the last. Graph 2- Would you prefer to watch a music video compared to just listening to the audio? This graph shows that audiences would prefer the watch the music video for a song rather than just listening to the song. I believe this is because the it gives the audience more of an understanding of what the story means and the real story behind the lyrics. By giving the audience understanding of what the story is actually portraying means that the audience are going to be more attracted to watching the music video as they will be able to full

Plans for Magazine Advert

Image
For my magazine advert I am going to be incorporating lots and lots of different colours. The reason I have chosen to this is because Charli XCX is the artist and she has a very 'childish' style and theme to all of her artistry. Charli XCX has done many different cover shoots and magazine adverts in the past and these all have the use of colour in common. They all use very vibrant colouring and colouring that would attract a younger audience. By adding in bold lettering it makes the audience know who the artist is and will also know what the album is straight away. This is good for the audience as they know who they are looking at and who they could potentially like. The magazine advert that I have created has included the important part of information about the artist and the album. I have included the right amount of information that a target audience would need to know about the artist and their debut album. I have also included a reasonable photograph of my artist that is

Music Video Audiences

Image
Music video's are made and created for the pleasure of the artists target audience. I feel music video's in general are made for everybody but aimed at specific demographic's and age ranges depending on the artist's target audience. Music video's now day's are able to be viewed on nearly everything and anything for example; Tv, Mobile Phones, Tablets, Computers, Online e.c.t  93 % of adults in the UK own a mobile phone 71% of which own a smart phones, meaning that they are able to access the internet where ever they are. This figure is massive, showing that if these music video as advertised and marketed well 93% of adults in the Uk will see it. This allows music video's marketed at certain demographics and certain ages to be given the ability to be marketed at their perfect target audiences. The genre of the music can also be seen to be targeting a certain type of audience for example Jennifer Lopez- 'I ain't your mumma'.   This song is targe

Research into Chosen Genre

Image
The genre I have chosen to go into is Pop. The reason I have decided to go into this genre is because I feel that this genre is the best for me to make a music video to, this is because Pop has the same type of target audience that I wish to target when creating my own music video. I prefer the Pop industry as I feel that this industry will always remain relevant and there lots and lots of different type of inspiration. Re-creating a Pop video is also very interesting because I can add lots of relevant things into the video and i can also add lots of colour. In Pop video's there is always a very relevant story to what is going on in modern society. Pop video's also most commonly have a very high production value to encourage the audience to watch and keep watching the video. This is because Pop video's usually include the artist which is good promotion for the artist and the record label especially with the increasing use of social media. The Pop industry relies mostly on

Initial ideas

Image
I have considered many different genres for example; Pop, Indie, Country, Rock e.c.t. The genre I have chosen to go for is Pop. The reason for this being that the Pop industry will never die and I feel there will always be a place in the music industry for Pop. Another reason for selecting the Pop industry is that the target audience is the type of audience I wish to go for. I have seen multiple music video's of many different artist and i wish to create my music video that has some type of 'party' vibe. The reason for this is because I feel this is more attractive to a younger audience for example: teen's and early twenties. This is the type of audience i'm targeting as the younger generations tend to be more tech savvy which enables them to access the music video where ever they want and when ever they want. This will then ensure they success of my video as my target audience are able to watch the video when every they want meaning that accessing my video is going

Analysis of Ancillary Products

BeyoncĂ© 4 - Released 28.06.2011 Font used: Throughout the whole digipak (including back and front), the font she has chosen is very simple and plain. On each part of the digipak here name is boldly displayed at the top of each and every component. The text is written in a very bold colour so it is easily distinguished from the 'plain' back ground. Her name is very large and is placed in the middle expanding from one side to the other. This is so that every body knows who she is and this name can be seen easily from a distance. This could be done so if this CD is on a shelf customers can easily locate it. The text she has decided to use could connote her elegance as the text she has decided to use isn't over the top or overly bold. Her outfit also matches the text she has chosen to use. The juxtaposition between the harsh bold black of the text to the soft cream of the back ground, may connote the dark story behind the songs.  Colour and Imagery: Like

Mock Digipak

Image
We were given the task of creating a mock digipak for a made up band or artist. We were given the artist Young Naz at random and this is what we cam up with. Because he genre was grime, we thought we would include images that had that type of vibe. one of the photos we digitally enhanced and altered. This picture can be seen in the bottom left corner, where the artist can be seen to be sitting on the mattress. We liked the idea of adding in abandoned buildings because we believed that it is the perfect setting for this type of genre and artist. This is where we got the idea of adding the image of the mattress in an abandoned building because we liked the feel of the image and how it represents the artist. We then went and found a picture of our artist in a different setting, sitting on exterior stears. We were really fond of this photo because we liked the way he was sitting down on stairs facing the camera. We then decided to Photoshop the two pictures to together, adjusted the l

Research into Chosen Artist

Image
I have chosen to research in to the Pop artist Charli XCX. The reason i have chosen Charli XCX is because she is a quite new artist and her songs fit the type of genre and style of what I am going for. I have also chosen this artist because i like that most of her songs are upbeat and they all have a very light feel to them. They are less serious and more fun which is the type of style i'm looking for. Although them all seem like they have a light and entertaining theme one of her songs in particular has a very strong meaning behind it. This is a clear example that she can also write and perform a song that has meaning and purpose. I have chosen the song Famous by my chosen artist because i'm really fond of the style, beat and meaning of the song. I think this song in particular is the exact style i'm going for. Charli XCX is a British singer and songwriter, she released her debut single independently in 2008. Charli XCX has a very simple and young feel. All of her music vi

The purpose of magazine adverts and digipaks

Image
The purpose of a magazine advert is to promote the music video. The reason an advert would be chosen to be put into a magazine is because millions and millions of people read magazines each year reaching 94% of people that live in the UK. This is a lot of people that would be able to see these advert which means that many different people are given access to these music video advert, widen the target audience in a small amount of time. These magazine advert not only promote the music but they also promote the artist and give the artist a lot of public exposure. Public exposure not only increases the success of that single but could also promote people to keep up to date and relevant with what that artist is doing. The purpose of a digipak is also to promote the artist and their music. This digipak will typically contain things that are exclusive to the people who purchase the digipak. Giving the consumer a sense of exclusivity, something that online streamer wont be able to have access
